Centerville is part of the larger area around Huntsville, Texas.

Centerville was started in 1935. In the 1960s, about 400 people lived there. However, the number of people living in Centerville went down in the 1970s and 1980s. By 1990, only 40 people lived there. In 2000, the population grew a little to 60 people. Most of the people who lived in Centerville worked as farmers, ranchers, or foresters (people who manage forests).
Where is Centerville Located?
Centerville is found in the northeastern part of Trinity County. It is located where two roads meet: Texas State Highway 94 and Farm to Market Road 358. Centerville is about 9 miles (14 km) northeast of a town called Groveton.

The community's school was built in 1935. This school is still open today. It is recognized by the University Interscholastic League as an "A" school. This means it meets certain high standards. The school is part of the Centerville Independent School District.
