Central Macedonia Army Section facts for kids
The Central Macedonia Army Section (also known as TSKM) was a special army group in the Hellenic Army of Greece. It was created on March 6, 1941, during World War II. This group was like a large team of soldiers, similar to an army corps.
Its main job was to help defend Greece. It was led by Lieutenant General Ioannis Kotoulas. The Central Macedonia Army Section included two important groups of soldiers: the 12th Infantry Division and the 20th Infantry Division.
Later, on March 28, this army group joined a bigger force called 'W' Force, led by Henry Maitland Wilson. Their mission was to protect a key defense line in the Vermion Mountains and along the Haliacmon river. Sadly, the Central Macedonia Army Section was defeated and stopped existing in mid-April 1941, during the German invasion of Greece.
