Central Pueblo, Colorado facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Central Pueblo, Colorado, was once a separate town in the state of Colorado. It was one of several small towns that eventually came together to form the larger city we know today as Pueblo.

How Pueblo Grew

Central Pueblo became an official town in 1882. At that time, there were four main towns in the area. These were Central Pueblo, South Pueblo, Colorado, Bessemer, Colorado, and Pueblo. Think of it like different neighborhoods that decided to become one big city.

Joining Forces

In 1886, Central Pueblo and South Pueblo briefly joined together. They formed a larger "City of Pueblo." This first joining only lasted for about a month. Later, in 1894, the town of Bessemer also joined in. When all these towns came together, they officially created the modern city of Pueblo, Colorado, as it is known today.
