Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province (Persian: استان چهارمحال و بختیاری) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It is located in the southwestern part of the country. The province covers an area of 16,332 square kilometers. Its capital city is Shahr-e Kord.
In 2016, the province had a population of about 947,763 people. This province is part of "Region 2" in Iran. This division helps with planning and development across the country.

Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province has many cities and towns. The capital, Shahr-e Kord, is the largest city. Over 64% of the people in the province live in these cities. Some other important cities include Lordegan, Borujen, and Farrokh Shahr.
What Languages Are Spoken?
The main language spoken in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province is Bakhtiāri. This language is part of the Luri language family. You'll hear it mostly in the higher western parts of the province. It is also spoken in the southern areas around Lordegan.
In the northeastern part of the province, people speak other languages. These include Chārmahāli and Chaharmahali Turkic. Chārmahāli is a mix between Bakhtiari and Persian. The Turkic languages here are similar to Qashqa’i. In bigger cities, you might also hear Tehrani-type Persian.
