The Chaihuín River (which is Río Chaihuín in Spanish) is a river located in the southern part of Chile. It flows through the Los Ríos Region.
This river is quite special because it ends at the Pacific Ocean. At its mouth, you'll find the small village of Chaihuín and a beautiful place called Chaihuín Beach. This area is also home to the administration of the Valdivian Coastal Reserve.
Where Does the Chaihuín River Start?
The Chaihuín River begins its journey high up in the mountains. These mountains are part of the Chilean Coast Range. This mountain range runs along the coast of Chile.
As the river flows, it travels through very thick forests. These forests are full of different kinds of trees and plants.
Journey to the Ocean
The river's journey ends when it reaches the Pacific Ocean. It flows into the ocean through a narrow opening. This opening is often blocked by a sand bar. A sand bar is a long, low ridge of sand built up by ocean currents.
