Chala is a town in Peru. It is located in the Arequipa Region, within the Caravelí Province. Chala is also the capital of the Chala District.
This town is right next to the Pacific Ocean. It's about 170 kilometers (105 miles) south of Nazca. You can find it along the Pan-American Highway, which connects Nazca and Camana.
Chala is famous for the ancient Incan ruins of Puerto Inca, which are nearby. These ruins are a cool place to learn about history!
According to a count in 2017, about 9,240 people live in Chala. The town was officially founded on January 2, 1857. The current mayor is Agustin Condori Motta.
