History of Chambersville
Chambersville got its name from a man named Elisha Chambers. He moved to this area from North Carolina in 1847. In 1850, he received a special land grant from something called Peter's Colony. This grant gave him 320 acres (about 130 hectares) of land. His land was located along the east fork of the Trinity River.
Just three years later, in 1853, Elisha Chambers gave some of his land. This land was used to build a church and a cemetery for the community. A post office was opened in Chambersville in 1894. It helped people send and receive mail until 1903. Jacob Bryan was the postmaster during that time. After 1903, mail for Chambersville was sent through the nearby town of McKinney. The population of Chambersville stayed around 40 people from the 1950s all the way through 2000.
On April 22, 1968, a strong wind storm, known as an F1 tornado, passed through Chambersville.
