Chang Gung University (CGU) is a private university located in Guishan District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan. It's a place where students learn about many different subjects. The university is known for its strong programs in medicine, engineering, and management.

What is the History of CGU?
Chang Gung University started as the Chang Gung Medical College in April 1987. It first focused only on medical studies.
In 1993, the school began to accept students for engineering and management. Because of this, its name changed to Chang Gung College of Medicine and Technology.
Later, in July 1997, the school became a full university. It was then given its current name, Chang Gung University.
How Does CGU Work with Other Universities?
In 2011, Chang Gung University teamed up with Arizona State University in the United States. They created a special center together.
This center focuses on finding ways to prevent and treat serious illnesses. A famous scientist, Leland H. Hartwell, who won a Nobel Prize, helps lead this center.

In 2011, a ranking based on scientific papers placed CGU as the 498th best university in the world. This was a great achievement for a private university in Taiwan.
CGU was one of only six universities in Taiwan to make it into the world's top 500 that year. It was the only private university among them.
In specific fields, CGU also ranked highly. For example, its clinical medicine program was ranked 255th globally. Its electrical engineering research was ranked 290th in the world.
