About Chanté Adams
Chanté Adams grew up in Detroit, Michigan. She started acting when she was a student at Cass Technical High School. After high school, she went to Carnegie Mellon University's School of Drama. There, she earned her bachelor's degree. After finishing college, she moved to New York to follow her dream of becoming an actress.
Her Big Break
Just one month after moving to New York, Chanté got a chance to audition for a big role. It was for a movie about the rapper Roxanne Shanté. Chanté got the part, and filming began very quickly, just eight days later! Her performance in Roxanne Roxanne was a huge success. She won the Special Jury Prize for Breakthrough Performance at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. This award is given to actors who show outstanding talent in their roles.
