Chapagetti (Korean: 짜파게티) is a very popular type of ramyeon (instant noodles). It is made by a company called Nongshim. Chapagetti was first sold in South Korea on March 19, 1984.

This noodle dish was special because it was the first instant noodle to taste like jjajangmyeon (炸醬麺). Jjajangmyeon is a delicious Chinese-Korean dish with black bean sauce. Chapagetti is one of the top-selling instant noodles in South Korea. Its name is a mix of the words jajangmyeon and spaghetti. It's a very important product for Nongshim, selling more than 200 billion won every year!

How Chapagetti Started

Chapagetti first came out in South Korea on March 19, 1984. People quickly loved the new noodles. It soon became one of Nongshim's most important products. It sells a lot, bringing in over 200 billion won each year.

Different Kinds of Chapagetti

In 1986, a new version called Shrimp Chapaghetti was launched. However, it did not sell very well and was later stopped. On September 6, 2004, another new kind was released. This one was called Sichuan Chapaghetti (Hangul: 사천; Hanja: 四川; RR: Sacheon). It had a spicier taste, like food from the Sichuan region.

Celebrating 40 Years of Chapagetti

In April 2024, Chapagetti celebrated its 40th birthday! To mark this special event, a fun "Chapagetti Snack Shop" opened. It was a temporary store in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. At the shop, people could try different Chapagetti dishes. There were also games and other fun activities.

A brand new product was also released for the anniversary. It was named "Chapagetti the Black." A person from Nongshim said that this new noodle has a "chewier and stronger taste." They also made it with dry noodles to lower the calories by more than 20%.
