Chapel Point State Park is a special place in Charles County, Maryland. It's a public park right on the Port Tobacco River, which flows into the big Potomac River. This park is mostly undeveloped, meaning it's kept very natural.
It's a great spot for outdoor activities like fishing and hunting. Right next to the park, you can find St. Ignatius Church and its cemetery. This church is super old, being the oldest continuous Roman Catholic parish in the United States! It also offers amazing views of the river.

The land where Chapel Point State Park sits has a long history. It was owned by the Jesuits, a religious group, since 1638. That's a very long time ago! In 1972, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources bought the land. This made it a state park for everyone to enjoy.
