Early Life and Education
Charlotte P. Morris was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She is an African-American woman. She went to Jackson State University. There, she earned her first degree in business education.
Later, she continued her studies. She received a master's degree from Delta State University. After that, she earned a PhD from Kansas State University. Her PhD was in education and business management.
Career in Education
Ms. Morris has taught at several colleges. She worked at Kansas State University. She also taught at Trenholm State Community College. Before joining Tuskegee, she was an administrator at Mississippi Valley State University.
Joining Tuskegee University
Charlotte Morris started working at Tuskegee Institute in 1984. Over the years, she took on many important roles. She served as an interim president in 2010. This was between the terms of two other presidents.
She also led the Andrew W. Brimmer College of Business and Information Science. She was the interim dean there until 2017.
Becoming University President
In 2017, Ms. Morris became interim president again. She held this role until 2018. Then, Lily McNair became president.
On July 26, 2021, the university's board of trustees made a big decision. They elected Charlotte P. Morris as the ninth president of Tuskegee University. She officially started her term on August 1, 2021.
Personal Life
Charlotte P. Morris was married to Dr. William R. Morris. He has passed away. She has one son. Today, she lives in Montgomery, Alabama.
