Early Life and Education
Morris was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She is an African-American woman. She studied at Jackson State University, where she earned her first degree in business education.
Later, she continued her studies. She earned a master's degree from Delta State University. After that, she received a PhD in education and business management from Kansas State University. A PhD is the highest degree you can earn in a field of study.
Career in Education
Dr. Morris has taught at several universities. She taught at Kansas State University and Trenholm State Community College. She also worked as an administrator at Mississippi Valley State University. An administrator helps manage the daily operations of a school.
Working at Tuskegee University
Morris joined the Tuskegee Institute in 1984. She has held many important roles there. In 2010, she served as the interim president. An interim president leads the university for a short time until a new president is chosen.
She was also the interim dean of the Andrew W. Brimmer College of Business and Information Science. In 2017, she became interim president again. She was followed by Lily McNair as president in 2018.
On July 26, 2021, the university's board of trustees elected Dr. Morris as the ninth president. She officially began her term on August 1, 2021. This shows her long dedication to Tuskegee University.
Personal Life
Charlotte P. Morris was married to Dr. William R. Morris, who has passed away. She has one son. Today, she lives in Montgomery, Alabama.
