Chena Ridge is a place in Alaska, United States. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that looks like a town but isn't officially a city. In the Lower Tanana language, its name is Khotughee'oden.
Chena Ridge is located in the Fairbanks North Star Borough. It sits between the George Parks Highway and the Tanana River. It is now a western suburb of the larger city of Fairbanks.
History of Chena Ridge
Chena Ridge is close to where the old city of Chena used to be. From 1903 to 1973, Chena was a busy city. It was even a rival to nearby Fairbanks for a while. Today, the old city of Chena is a ghost town.
Chena Ridge itself is a newer community. It was first recognized as a CDP in 2010. This means it was officially defined for the U.S. Census that year.

Chena Ridge has been growing. In 2010, about 5,791 people lived there. By the 2020 Census, the population had grown to 6,015. This makes Chena Ridge the ninth-most populated CDP in all of Alaska.
The area is home to a diverse group of people. Most residents are White. There are also many Native American or Alaska Native people. Smaller groups include Black or African American and Asian residents. Some people also identify as being of two or more races. About 4.6% of the population is Hispanic or Latino.
