Cheryl Artise Gray Evans (born in 1968 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is an American lawyer and politician. She represented her community in the Louisiana State Senate and the Louisiana House of Representatives. She is known for her public service in Louisiana.

Early Life and Education
Cheryl Gray Evans grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. She went to Eleanor McMain Magnet Secondary Senior High School. After high school, she attended Stanford University. There, she was part of the track team. She also joined the Delta Sigma Theta sorority. She earned her college degree in 1990.
After Stanford, she returned to New Orleans. She studied law at the Tulane University Law School. She earned her law degree in 1993. After finishing her studies, she worked as a lawyer. She joined the Gray & Gray Law Firm in New Orleans. Her parents had started this law firm.
Political Career
Cheryl Gray Evans became involved in politics. She was part of a group in Orleans Parish that wanted to bring change. This group often worked against other political leaders.
Serving in the House of Representatives
Gray Evans was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives. She represented District 98. She served in this role from 2004 to 2008. In the House, lawmakers work to create and pass new laws for the state.
Moving to the State Senate
After her time in the House, Gray Evans ran for the Louisiana State Senate. She won the election for Senate District 5. The previous senator, Diana Bajoie, could not run again because of "term limits." This means there are rules about how many times a person can be elected to the same office.
As a state senator, Gray Evans worked on important issues. She spoke out about how the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) handled the recovery after Hurricane Katrina. This was a very big storm that caused a lot of damage in Louisiana. She believed FEMA could have done a better job helping people.

Cheryl Gray Evans has achieved many things in her life. She is involved in her community. She attends Asia Baptist Church in New Orleans.
She is married to Patrick Evans. He used to be a news anchor and reporter for television and radio in New Orleans. He also worked for New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin.
In late 2009, Cheryl Gray Evans resigned from her position in the legislature. She moved to Connecticut to be with her husband. He had started serving in the United States Navy as a public affairs officer.
