Chester J. Crandell (born June 19, 1946 – died August 4, 2014) was an American politician. He was a member of the Republican Party. Crandell served in the Arizona Senate and the Arizona House of Representatives. He represented parts of Arizona. He was also a rancher from a long-time Arizona family.

Chester Crandell was born in Holbrook, Arizona in 1946. He grew up in a rural part of Arizona. His family had lived in Arizona for many generations. He was also a rancher, which means he worked with livestock on a large farm.
His Education
Chester Crandell went to college to study agriculture. He earned his first degree from the University of Arizona. This degree was in agricultural education. Later, he earned a master's degree from Northern Arizona University.
Becoming a Politician
Chester Crandell started serving in the Arizona Legislature in 2011. The Legislature is where laws are made for the state. First, he was a member of the Arizona House of Representatives. He served in District 5.
In 2013, he moved to the Arizona Senate. He represented District 6. He won his elections to get these positions. For example, in 2012, he won the election for the Senate seat.
Laws He Supported
As a senator, Chester Crandell worked on new laws. In 2014, he supported a bill called SB1093. This bill would have made federal agencies register with local sheriffs. It also said that Arizona should get half of certain fines.
However, this bill did not pass. A committee voted against it. They believed it might not follow the rules of the United States Constitution.
His Passing
Chester Crandell passed away on August 4, 2014. He was 68 years old. He was found after he did not return from a horseback ride. This happened near Heber, Arizona.
Investigators found that he had been thrown from his horse. This accident caused his death.
