Music Career
Early Appearances
Chi-Ali first appeared on the album A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing by the group Black Sheep. He was featured on a song called "Pass the 40". At that time, Chi-Ali was a key member of Native Tongues. This was a group of hip-hop artists from New York City. They often worked together on many projects.
Solo Success
In 1992, Chi-Ali released his first solo song, "Age Ain't Nothing But a #". It was quite popular and reached number 6 on the Hot Rap Singles chart. The song was played a lot on urban radio stations. Its music video was also shown often on TV shows like Yo! MTV Raps and Rap City.
His album, The Fabulous Chi-Ali, came out shortly after this song. The album also featured two other songs. These were "Roadrunner" and "Funky Lemonade". Both of these songs were later remixed and re-recorded.
Later Work
After his first album, Chi-Ali seemed to take a break from the music industry. He returned in the late 1990s. He appeared on Dres's solo album, Sure Shot Redemption. After that, he occasionally worked with other artists. For example, Chi-Ali collaborated with the rapper Jadakiss on a song called "G-Check".
A documentary about Chi-Ali's life was released in 2019. It is titled The Fabulous Chi Ali.
