Chibolo, sometimes spelled Chivolo, is a town and a special area called a municipality in the Magdalena Department of Colombia. It was founded in 1820. Chibolo officially became a municipality on March 8, 1974.
The town's economy mostly depends on farming. Chibolo is also known for its old church, the Iglesia Santa Catalina de Alejandría, and the Santa Catalina Plaza. People in Chibolo celebrate many important events. These include Carnivals, the Christian Holy Week, and special days for Maria Auxiliadora (May 24), Virgen del Carmen, Saint Judas Thaddeus, and the town's main celebration for Saint Catherine of Alexandria on December 25.
