Chico Benymon (born August 7, 1974) is an American actor, singer, and musician. He is famous for his role as Andre "Spencer" Williams on the comedy show Half & Half. Many kids and teens know him from the Nickelodeon TV series The Haunted Hathaways, where he played a ghost dad.

From Music to Acting

Chico Benymon started his career in entertainment in 1999. He was part of an R&B and hip-hop group called Trā-Knox. The famous actor and musician Will Smith helped guide the group.

Working with Will Smith

Trā-Knox was featured on Will Smith's albums Willennium and Born to Reign. They also appeared on the soundtracks for the popular movies Wild Wild West and Men in Black II.

One of their most famous songs was Black Suits Comin' (Nod Ya Head). This song was on the Men in Black II soundtrack and became a hit in 2002. The group was signed to Will Smith's record label, but they decided to split up to work on different projects.

Becoming an Actor

Even before his music group ended, Chico started acting. He had a small part on the TV show Moesha. His big break came when he was cast in the sitcom Half & Half. He played a main character named Spencer for four years.

Later, he starred in the TV movie Life Is Not a Fairytale: The Fantasia Barrino Story. In the movie, he played the boyfriend of singer Fantasia Barrino.

Starring on Nickelodeon

In 2013, Chico Benymon joined the cast of the Nickelodeon show The Haunted Hathaways. He played Ray Preston, a ghost who is the father of two ghost children. The show was about their life in a house with a new family that moved in. The series was popular with families and ran for two seasons.

He also appeared as Ray Preston in a special crossover episode with the show The Thundermans.

Recent Work

After The Haunted Hathaways, Chico continued to act in movies and TV shows. He also returned to his love for music. He started writing and producing his own songs.

In 2019, he released his first album, called Don't Talk, Just Listen. He released it on his own so fans could stream it online. He has also worked with other artists, like the rapper Redman, on new music.
