Chi Mhende was born in Harare, Zimbabwe, on October 19, 1991. She later moved to South Africa to pursue her dreams in acting.
Education and Training
In 2006, Chi moved to Cape Town to study at The School for the Creative Economy. This school helped her develop her acting skills. She started her acting journey in theater.

Starting in Theater
Chi began her theater career playing 'Lady Capulet' in a play called Romeo and Juliet. Her excellent performance led her to many other theater roles. She appeared in plays like K. Sello Duiker's The Quiet Violence of Dreams and JM Coetzee's Waiting for the Barbarians. She also performed in famous plays by William Shakespeare, such as A Midsummer Night's Dream and Richard III.
Breakthrough on Television
In 2015, Chi joined the popular South African TV show Generations. She took on the challenging role of 'Wandile Radebe', a male character. The show became a huge success, running for four seasons and over 1000 episodes. Her ability to play a male role so believably made her very famous.
Voice Acting and Other Work
Chi Mhende is also known for her voice acting. She was the voice of 'Siyaya' and narrated 'Lifelines', a global health series for Al Jazeera. She has also worked with groups like the 'Bonfire Improv Theatre Company'. These groups help bring drama and art to communities in South Africa.
