What is Children's Day?
A Special Day for Kids
Children's Day is all about showing care and having fun with young people. Some families take the day off from school or work. They might do something fun together, like going to a park or playing games. The idea for Children's Day started in the USA in 1856.
The United Nations and Children's Rights
There is also a special day called Universal Children's Day. This day happens every year on 20 November. The United Kingdom first suggested it in 1954.
On 20 November 1959, the United Nations made an important document. It was called the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. This document talked about what every child needs and deserves. Later, on 20 November 1989, the United Nations adopted another big agreement. It was the Convention on the Rights of the Child. This agreement helps protect children's rights all over the world. You can find more information about these rights on the Council of Europe website.
