Chinandega is a region, called a "department," in the country of Nicaragua. It's located right next to the border with Honduras. It covers a large area of about 4,822 square kilometers. Around 441,897 people live there, based on a 2021 estimate. The main city, or capital, of this department is also called Chinandega.
