Chirilagua is a town in southeastern El Salvador. It is part of the San Miguel Department. About 24,000 people live there. The town is located on a high plain near the Pacific Ocean.
There's lots to do in Chirilagua! You can try traditional foods or play soccer in the town square. You can also just grab a snow cone and walk around. The town square, known as "La Plaza," is a busy place. It has many food stalls, a turf field, shops, a grocery store, a playground, and a basketball court.
Many different religions are practiced here. However, Catholicism is the most popular. The main Catholic church is in the middle of town, right next to La Plaza. Every year on December 12th, the Catholic community celebrates the Virgin Mary.
Sports in Chirilagua
Chirilagua has its own football (soccer) team! It is called Club Deportivo Estrellas del Sur. The team plays in El Salvador's Third Division football league.
