Chattogram Division (চট্টগ্রাম) is one of the eight main parts, called "divisions," of Bangladesh. It's located in the southern part of the country. It is also the second largest division by land area. This region is very important for Bangladesh!
A Look Back in Time
How Chittagong Division Was Formed
In 1947, this area continued to be a "Division." It was one of four divisions in what was then called East Bengal. Later, East Bengal became Bangladesh.
The higher land areas of Khagrachhari, Rangamati, and Bandarban districts are together known as the Chittagong Hill Tracts. These are special areas with unique cultures.
Before 1995, the four districts that now make up Sylhet Division were also a part of Chittagong Division. This shows how the map of Bangladesh has changed over time.
