Chitwood Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in Tillamook County, Oregon. It's a special spot where Chitwood Creek flows into the Cascade Head North Marine Protected Area. This area is a protected part of the ocean near the coast.
You can find Chitwood Falls by taking Forest Road 1861. It's a great place to visit if you love nature and exploring!
Exploring Chitwood Falls
Getting to Chitwood Falls is an adventure! There's a path that leads you through nature.
The Trail to the Falls
The trail starts off easy to follow. About half a mile (which is like 800 meters) into your walk, you'll cross a small foot bridge. This bridge helps you get over a stream or a dip in the path.
The main trail continues until you reach a bench. This bench is a perfect spot to rest and look out at the big, wide ocean. It's a fantastic view!
Finding the Waterfall
After the bench, the path isn't as clear. You'll need to look carefully. Walk towards the end of the headland, which is a piece of land that sticks out into the sea. You'll also see tall evergreen trees around you.
The waterfall itself can be spotted to your left. It's in the background of a coastal inlet, which is like a small bay or arm of the sea. You'll see it near a meadow, a field of grass. It's a hidden gem waiting to be discovered!
