Choei Sato (佐藤 長栄, Satō Chōei) was born on April 15, 1951. He is a well-known former Japanese football player and manager. He played as a goalkeeper and even represented the Japan national team.

Choei Sato's Football Journey
Choei Sato had an exciting career in Japanese football, first as a player and then as a coach. He achieved many successes with his club team and even played for his country.
Playing for Clubs
Sato was born in Yamagata Prefecture. After finishing his studies at Chuo University, he joined a football club called Furukawa Electric in 1974. He started playing for the team in 1976. That year was very successful for his club. They won both the Japan Soccer League and the Emperor's Cup.
Furukawa Electric continued to be a strong team. They won the Japan Soccer League again in the 1985–86 season. They also won the JSL Cup multiple times, in 1977, 1982, and 1986. Choei Sato played 142 games in the league for Furukawa Electric. He retired from playing football in 1988.
Playing for Japan
Choei Sato also had the honor of playing for his country. On July 21, 1978, he made his first appearance for the Japan national team. This game was against the Malaysia team. He played one match for the national team during his career.
Becoming a Coach
After he stopped playing, Choei Sato began a new chapter as a football coach. In 1991, he started coaching at his former club, Furukawa Electric. This club later changed its name to JEF United Ichihara. He coached there until 1994.
In 1995, he moved to coach at Shimizu S-Pulse. The next year, in 1996, he became the manager for Brummell Sendai. He then coached for Urawa Reds from 1998 to 1999.
