Chris Acland (born September 7, 1966 – died October 17, 1996) was a talented English drummer and songwriter. He was best known as the drummer for the London band Lush, which played alternative rock music.

Chris Acland's Early Life
Chris Acland was born in Lancaster, England. He was the youngest of three brothers. His father worked in paper manufacturing.
Chris went to North London Polytechnic for his studies. There, he met some people who would later become his bandmates in Lush: Meriel Barham and Miki Berenyi.
Chris Acland's Music Career
Before joining Lush, Chris played drums in several other bands. Some of these bands included The Infection, A Touch of Hysteria, and Panic.
In 1988, Chris helped start the band Lush. He formed it with Steve Rippon, Emma Anderson, Meriel Barham, and Miki Berenyi.
After a few changes, the band settled on its main members. Lush then released their first mini-album, called Scar. They quickly became popular for their live shows.
Over time, Lush released three full albums and many singles and EPs. They became very successful and were praised by music critics.
Chris Acland's Personal Interests
Chris Acland was a big fan of football, also known as soccer. He especially supported the team Tottenham Hotspur F.C..
He even joined some friends from other bands, like Moose and Cocteau Twins, to form a fun group called The Lillies. They recorded a humorous song about a football match.
The End of Lush
In October 1996, Lush had finished their tour and played their last music festivals. Shortly after, Chris Acland passed away.
His bandmates were very sad and decided to stop making music as Lush after a period of mourning.
