Daquan Johnson-Bey (born February 13, 1996) is an American professional wrestler known by his ring name Chris Bey. He works for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), where he is part of the tag team ABC with Ace Austin. Chris Bey is currently taking a break from wrestling due to a serious neck injury he got in October 2024. He is also known for wrestling in many different places, called the independent scene. He has also appeared in New Japan Pro-Wrestling and is a member of the famous wrestling group Bullet Club.
Chris Bey's Wrestling Journey
Starting Out (2017–present)
Chris Bey began his wrestling journey at Future Stars of Wrestling (FSW) in Las Vegas. He trained there under experienced wrestlers like Disco Inferno and Kenny King. When he first started, he used the name Chris Strong.
Soon after training, Bey had his first match at Big Valley Wrestling. He teamed up with Heck Dynamite, and they were known as "Dynamite Strong." In late 2017, Bey started wrestling for PCW Ultra. He won his first match there against Adrian Quest.
Joining Impact Wrestling / TNA (2018–present)
Early Matches (2018–2019)
Chris Bey first appeared on the TV show Impact! in November 2018. He teamed up with Mike Sydal, but they lost to The Rascalz. Before officially signing with Impact Wrestling in February 2020, Bey made a few more appearances. He wrestled against popular stars like Luchasaurus and Daga. In March 2020, Bey got his first win on Impact! when he defeated Damian Drake.
Becoming X Division Champion (2020–2021)
At the Rebellion event in April 2020, Chris Bey won a big match. This showed everyone he was a top wrestler in the X Division. The X Division is a special group in wrestling where matches are fast-paced and exciting.
In May 2020, Bey got his first chance to win the Impact X Division Championship. He didn't win that time, but he kept trying. Later, he attacked the champion, Willie Mack, showing he was ready to do anything to win. At Slammiversary in June 2020, Chris Bey defeated Willie Mack to become the X Division Champion! It was his first championship in Impact Wrestling. He held the title for 31 days before losing it to Rohit Raju. After that, Bey started aiming for the main championship, the Impact World Championship.
Forming ABC (2021–2024)
In 2021, Chris Bey competed in a special match called Ultimate X for the X-Division title. After the match, he found a Bullet Club shirt in his locker room. Bullet Club is a famous wrestling group. Soon after, Bey officially joined Bullet Club, teaming up with its leader, Jay White.
On March 2, 2023, Chris Bey and his tag team partner, Ace Austin, won the Impact World Tag Team Championship. They defeated The Motor City Machine Guns to become champions for the first time. They lost the titles in July 2023 at Slammiversary.
Later that year, at Impact 1000, Bey won a special briefcase in a match called Feast or Fired. This briefcase gave him and Ace Austin another chance to win the Tag Team Championship. At Bound for Glory, they defeated The Rascalz to become Tag Team Champions for the second time!
In March 2024, Bey and Austin lost their titles again. But they won them back at Slammiversary in July. Their third reign as champions ended in September 2024.
Dealing with an Injury (2024–present)
In October 2024, Chris Bey suffered a serious neck injury during a match. The match had to stop, and he was taken to the hospital for surgery. Many fans and other wrestlers supported him during his recovery. In early 2025, it was shared that Chris Bey was recovering well and was no longer facing paralysis.
Other Wrestling Appearances
Chris Bey also wrestled for other big wrestling companies. In 2019, he made an appearance in WWE on their show 205 Live. He also wrestled a few matches for Ring of Honor (ROH) in 2019.
Since 2020, Chris Bey has also been a part of New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). He competed in the Super J-Cup tournament and later officially joined the Bullet Club group there.
