Christopher Ryan Thomas (born October 3, 1982) is an American who used to play professional basketball. He went to Pike High School and the University of Notre Dame.

High School Basketball Star
Chris Thomas was a big deal in high school basketball. He played for the Pike High School Red Devils. During his four years there, he helped his team win two state championships.
In 2001, Chris was named "Mr. Basketball" for Indiana. This is a special award for the best high school player in the state. He was also chosen as a McDonald's All-American and an Indiana All-Star in the same year.
College Career at Notre Dame
Chris Thomas chose to play college basketball at the University of Notre Dame. He picked Notre Dame over other famous schools like Stanford and Duke. While at Notre Dame, he studied economics.
Chris set many records during his time playing for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He is fourth on the school's all-time scoring list with 2,195 points. He also holds the record for the most assists in school history, with 833. This number was even ranked fourth in NCAA history!
He is also second in school history for three-point shots made. Chris is first in steals with 244. He is one of only three players in NCAA history to get over 2,000 points and 800 assists.
Freshman Year Success
In his first year at Notre Dame, Chris Thomas won many awards. He was named the Big East Conference Freshman of the Year. He also earned National Freshman of the Year honors from Basketball Times and Basketball News. Chris was the team's second-highest scorer, averaging 15.6 points per game.
In his very first game, he achieved a rare feat called a triple-double. He scored 24 points, had 11 assists, and made 11 steals against the University of New Hampshire. This was the only triple-double in Notre Dame's school history!
Sophomore Season Highlights
Chris continued to play great in his second year. He was recognized as an honorable mention by the Associated Press. His scoring average went up to 18.7 points per game.
He became the 43rd player in Notre Dame history to score 1,000 career points. He was only the seventh player to reach this mark so early in his career. After this season, Chris thought about joining the NBA draft in 2003. However, he decided to return to Notre Dame for another year.
Junior Year Achievements
In his junior year, Chris was again named an Associated Press Honorable Mention. He also made the BIG EAST second-team for the second year in a row. He became Notre Dame's all-time leader in assists, setting the record in a game against Connecticut. Chris is the only player in Notre Dame history to score more than 1,700 points and have over 600 assists.
Senior Year Dedication
Chris Thomas showed amazing dedication throughout his college career. He played in and started all 128 games for the Irish. Even after having knee surgery, he kept playing. In his senior year, he averaged 14.2 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game.
Professional Basketball Journey
After college, Chris Thomas played professional basketball for several years. He played for teams in different countries.
- 2006–2007: He played for Anwil in Poland.
- 2007–2009: He joined CB Murcia in Spain.
- 2009–2010: Chris played for Baloncesto Fuenlabrada, another team in Spain's top league. He left this team because of their money problems.
- 2010–2011: He signed a two-year contract to play for Anwil Wloclawek in Poland again. His team won the Cup in Poland during this time.
- 2011–2012: Chris then moved to Israel to play for Hapoel Gilboa Galil. With this team, he won the Balkan League Championship. This was the club's first European title ever!
