Chris Zoricich's Football Journey
Chris Zoricich, often called "Zorro," started his senior football career in Auckland, New Zealand, with a team called Papatoetoe. He then moved to England to play for Leyton Orient from 1990 to 1993. He played in 59 main games and 12 as a substitute for them.
After his time at Leyton Orient, Chris had to return to New Zealand because of rules about work permits. His fans even protested to try and keep him in England!
Playing in Australia and New Zealand
In 1994, Chris went back to New Zealand and played for Central United. His brother, Michael, and his father, Ivan, also played for this team at different times.
Soon after, Chris moved to Australia to play for the Brisbane Strikers in the National Soccer League. He played there for two seasons.
Playing in England Again
After his time in Australia, Chris tried his luck in England once more. He played one game for Welling United and even had a trial with the famous club Chelsea. While he didn't play for Chelsea's main team, he was a regular player for their reserve (backup) squad.
Chris later returned to Australia to play for the Brisbane Strikers again in 1997. He finished his time in the Australian league playing for Newcastle United. He then moved back to England because his wife missed home. He played for several English clubs, including Margate, St Albans City, Harlow Town, Boreham Wood, Heybridge Swifts, and Wealdstone.
Representing New Zealand
Chris Zoricich made his first international appearance for New Zealand against Israel on March 27, 1988. He played in 57 official international matches for his country. He even had the honor of being the captain of the New Zealand national team, known as the All Whites. He led them in big tournaments like the Confederations Cup in Mexico and the Confederations Cup in France.
His Only International Goal
Chris scored one goal for New Zealand in an international match. This happened in June 1999 during the Confederations Cup. It was in a game against the USA, which New Zealand lost 2–1.

What is Chris Zoricich Doing Now?
After his playing career, Chris Zoricich became a football coach. As of 2014, he was the main football coach at Saint Kentigern College in Auckland, New Zealand. Since 2022, Chris Zoricich has been the Head Coach for Cooks Hill United FC.
