Chris Zylka (born Christopher Michael Settlemire on May 9, 1985) is an American actor and model. He is best known for playing Flash Thompson in the movie The Amazing Spider-Man.

He also played Jake Armstrong in the TV show The Secret Circle and Tom Garvey in the HBO series The Leftovers.

Early Life and Starting Out

Chris Zylka was born in Howland Township, Ohio. When he started acting, he decided to use his mother's last name, Zylka, as his professional name. He went to Howland High School and graduated in 2003.

After high school, he studied art at the University of Toledo. He left college to take care of his grandfather, who had suddenly become sick.

When he was 19, Zylka moved to Los Angeles, California, to become an actor. It was a tough start. For about six months, he didn't have a home and lived in his car. To make money, he worked in restaurants. It was at a restaurant where a manager discovered him and helped him start his acting career.

Career in Movies and Television

First Acting Roles

Zylka's acting career began in 2008 with a small part in the TV show 90210. He also appeared in other popular shows like Hannah Montana and Cougar Town.

From 2009 to 2010, he had a bigger role as Joey Donner in the TV series 10 Things I Hate About You. He also acted in the horror movie My Super Psycho Sweet 16 and its sequel.

Becoming Famous

In 2011, Zylka starred in the horror film Shark Night. The next year, he got one of his most famous roles, playing Flash Thompson in the superhero movie The Amazing Spider-Man. Flash Thompson is a high school student who often bullies Peter Parker.

From 2011 to 2012, he was a main character in the supernatural TV show The Secret Circle, playing Jake Armstrong. From 2014 to 2017, he played Tom Garvey in the popular HBO drama The Leftovers.

In 2019, he had a role as Corporal Kurtz in the teen drama series Dare Me, which is about a group of high school cheerleaders.

Other Work

Besides acting, Zylka has also worked as a model. He appeared in an ad campaign for the clothing brand Abercrombie & Fitch. He has also been on the cover of magazines like Wonderland and Bello.

In 2018, he showed his creative side by holding his first art show in Ibiza, Spain.

Personal Life

In January 2018, Zylka got engaged to Paris Hilton, a well-known media personality. He proposed to her with a ring that was reportedly worth $2 million. They ended their engagement in November 2018.

Zylka has several tattoos. One is a heart with the word "Mom" on his arm, and another is a gorilla.
