Chrisman was never officially "platted." This means it was not laid out with specific streets and lots like a planned town. A post office for Chrisman was opened on October 16, 1896. However, it did not stay open for very long. The post office was closed on October 31, 1901. Today, mail service for Chrisman is handled through the London branch. By the year 1915, Chrisman was still a very small place. It had only a few houses.
