Building the Church
This beautiful church was built in 1910. It was designed by an architect named George Baines, who lived from 1852 to 1934. He designed it for the Congregational Union, which was a group of churches. The church was built in a style called "Perpendicular," which is a type of Gothic architecture known for its strong vertical lines.
The church has a unique shape, like a greek cross when you look at it from above. This means it has four arms of equal length, like a plus sign. It also has a tall, square tower on its southwest side. Next to the main church building, there are other rooms that are part of the church.
The church was built using red bricks, stone, white bricks, and terracotta for decoration. Its roofs are covered with colorful tiles, adding to its unique look.

In 1941, a new minister named Elsie Chamberlain started working at the church. She became a very important leader not just at Christ Church, but also in the wider church community.
