Christen Nielsen Holberg (also known as Christian Holberg) was a brave officer in the Norwegian Army. He was born around 1625 and passed away in 1686. Fun fact: he was the father of a very famous writer named Ludvig Holberg!

Christen Holberg joined the army around 1640. In 1653, he started his career as a lieutenant. He served with the Bergenhusiske Regiment in Bergenhus len and at the important Bergenhus Fortress.

Rising Through the Ranks

Christen Holberg quickly moved up in the army. By 1659, he was made a captain. He took command of the Sundfjordske Kompani within the Bergenhusiske Regiment.

In 1665, he became a Major. Just seven years later, in 1672, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel. This shows how skilled and trusted he was as a leader.

Important Commands

Christen Holberg held several key leadership roles. He was part of the regimental staff. He also commanded the Sognske Kompani. These roles meant he was in charge of many soldiers and important tasks.

Later, he even became the temporary commander of Bergenhus Fortress. This was a very important job, as the fortress protected the city of Bergen.

Battles and Wars
