Christian Gentner (born August 14, 1985) is a German football expert and a former player. He used to play as a midfielder, which is a key position in the middle of the field. Today, he works for VfB Stuttgart as the head of their professional player department. Christian is famous for winning the Bundesliga, Germany's top football league, two times. He won it with VfB Stuttgart in 2007 and with VfL Wolfsburg in 2009. He also played for the German national team five times.

Christian's Football Journey

Before joining the big club VfB Stuttgart, Christian Gentner played for smaller teams like TSV Beuren and VfL Kirchheim.

Starting at VfB Stuttgart

In the 2004–05 season, Christian played 28 games and scored six goals for VfB Stuttgart II. This team plays in the Regionalliga, which is Germany's third-highest football division. During the same season, he made his first appearance in the Bundesliga (the top league) on February 20, 2005. He scored his very first goal in a UEFA Cup game in September 2005.

In 2006, Christian signed a new contract with Stuttgart, showing they believed in his talent.

Moving to VfL Wolfsburg

On July 18, 2007, Christian was loaned to VfL Wolfsburg for two years. This meant he would play for Wolfsburg but still belonged to Stuttgart. Later, in August 2008, he signed a permanent deal with Wolfsburg.

Returning to VfB Stuttgart

On January 8, 2010, Christian announced he would return to VfB Stuttgart once his contract with Wolfsburg ended. He came back to Stuttgart on July 1, 2010, without a transfer fee.

In January 2013, Christian extended his contract with VfB Stuttgart again. After another player, Serdar Tasci, left the team, Christian was chosen to be the new club captain. This is a big honor, showing he was a leader on the team. In May 2016, he extended his contract with Stuttgart until June 2019.

Playing for Union Berlin and FC Luzern

On July 5, 2019, Christian signed a contract with Union Berlin. He then moved to FC Luzern in Switzerland in 2021.

Retirement and New Role

In September 2022, Christian Gentner announced he would stop playing football professionally at the end of that year. At the same time, VfB Stuttgart shared exciting news: Christian would return to the club on January 1, 2023. He would become the head of their professional player department, helping to manage the team's players.

Playing for Germany

On May 19, 2009, Christian Gentner was called up to play for the senior German national team. This is a huge achievement for any football player! He played his first game for Germany against China on May 29, 2009. By August 2010, he had played five games for his country.

About Christian's Life

Christian has a brother named Thomas Gentner, who also plays football for a team called TuS Koblenz.
