First Time in Russia (2007–2012)
In 2007, Christian moved to Russia to play for FC Rubin Kazan in the Russian Premier League. This was a big step in his career. In 2008, he helped Rubin Kazan win their first-ever league title. This was a historic moment for the club.
He also played in the UEFA Champions League, a major European competition. In 2010, as captain, Noboa scored a penalty kick against FC Barcelona. This helped Rubin Kazan get a draw in a Champions League match.
Dynamo Moscow
Moving to Dynamo (2012)
On January 26, 2012, Noboa joined Dynamo Moscow. His first game for Dynamo was in March. He played in 10 league matches for the club that season.
Key Goals (2012–2013)
Christian scored his first goal for Dynamo Moscow in August 2012. It was a winning goal against Lokomotiv Moscow. He even shed tears of joy because he hadn't scored in a while. He continued to score important goals, including one against league leaders CSKA Moscow. In April 2013, he scored a great free-kick goal.
Leaving Dynamo (2014–2015)
By the end of 2014, it was clear that Noboa would be leaving Dynamo Moscow. The club thanked him for his contributions.
PAOK
In January 2015, Christian signed a contract with PAOK FC in Greece. He made his debut soon after joining the club. He scored his first goal for PAOK in February. Noboa later mentioned that he was open to playing in Mexico if the opportunity arose. He also prepared to join his national team for the Copa America tournament.
Rostov
In July 2015, Noboa returned to the Russian Premier League to play for FC Rostov. He scored a goal in his very first game for Rostov in August 2015.
Zenit Saint Petersburg
In June 2017, Christian Noboa signed a three-year deal with FC Zenit Saint Petersburg. This was another big move to a top Russian club.
Return to Rubin Kazan
In February 2018, Noboa went back to FC Rubin Kazan on a loan from Zenit. He played for them until the end of the 2017–18 season.
Sochi
On August 5, 2019, Christian joined PFC Sochi, a new team in the Russian Premier League. He quickly became a key player for them. By August 2020, he had scored nine goals for Sochi. He continued to play well, scoring many goals for the club. In January 2023, he extended his contract with Sochi.
Return to Emelec
In January 2024, it was announced that Noboa would return to his first club, Emelec, in Ecuador. This brought his career full circle.
International Career
Christian Noboa has also played for the Ecuador national team. He was first called up for friendly matches in 2006.
He made his official debut against Brazil in a 2010 World Cup qualifier. In that match, Noboa scored a fantastic goal in the 89th minute to tie the game. This was his first goal for his country. He scored his second international goal in the next game against Paraguay. In June 2009, he helped Ecuador beat Peru 2–1 in a World Cup qualification match.
