Playing for Emelec
Christian Noboa began his football journey at Emelec, a club in his home country, Ecuador. He started playing for their youth teams and then moved up to the main team.
Time at Rubin Kazan
First Spell: 2007–2012
In 2007, Christian Noboa moved to Russia to play for FC Rubin Kazan in the Russian Premier League. He quickly became an important player. In 2008, he helped Rubin Kazan win their very first Russian Premier League title. The next year, in 2009, he played in the famous UEFA Champions League tournament. On September 29, 2010, while serving as team captain, Noboa scored a goal from a penalty kick against FC Barcelona in a Champions League match, helping his team get a draw.
Joining Dynamo Moscow
Starting in 2012
On January 26, 2012, Noboa signed with Dynamo Moscow. His first game for Dynamo was on March 5. He played in 10 league matches during the 2012 season.
2012–13 Season Highlights
Noboa's first goal for Dynamo Moscow came on August 25, 2012, in a 3–2 win against Lokomotiv Moscow. He scored again in a match against Kuban Krasnodar. His third goal of that part of the season was in a big 5–1 win against CSKA Moscow, who were leading the league at the time. He continued to score important goals, including a free-kick goal in April 2013.
2013–14 Season
On August 3, 2013, Noboa scored the winning goal in a 1–0 victory against Terek Grozny.
Leaving Dynamo Moscow in 2014
By the end of 2014, it was announced that Noboa would be leaving Dynamo Moscow. The club thanked him for his contributions.
Moving to P.A.O.K.
On January 7, 2015, Christian Noboa joined PAOK FC in Greece. He signed a contract for two and a half years. He made his debut with PAOK on January 8, helping his new team win 1–0 against Platanias. He scored his first goal for PAOK on February 21, 2015, in a 3–1 win against Veria.
Noboa also prepared to join his national team for the Copa America tournament in May 2015.
Playing for Rostov
On July 29, 2015, Noboa returned to Russia, signing a two-year contract with FC Rostov. He scored a goal in his very first game for Rostov on August 28, 2015, helping them win 1–0 against FC Amkar Perm.
Joining Zenit Saint Petersburg
On June 4, 2017, Noboa signed a three-year deal with FC Zenit Saint Petersburg, another big club in Russia.
Loan Back to Rubin Kazan
On February 18, 2018, Noboa went back to FC Rubin Kazan on a loan from Zenit until the end of the 2017–18 season.
Time at Sochi
On August 5, 2019, Christian Noboa signed a two-year contract with PFC Sochi, a new team in the Russian Premier League. He joined several other players who had previously played for Zenit. He became a key player for Sochi, scoring many goals. For example, by August 25, 2020, he had scored nine goals for the club. In January 2023, Noboa extended his contract with Sochi.
Returning to Emelec in 2024
On January 24, 2024, it was announced that Noboa would return to his first professional club, Emelec, in Ecuador.
Christian Noboa's International Career
Christian Noboa was first called up to the Ecuador national team in late 2006 for some friendly matches.
His official debut for Ecuador was against Brazil in a 2010 World Cup qualifier. In that match, Noboa scored a fantastic goal in the 89th minute to tie the game, which was his first international goal. He scored his second goal for Ecuador in the next game against Paraguay on April 1, 2009. On June 7, 2009, he helped Ecuador beat Peru 2–1 in a World Cup qualification match.
