Christian Ramos's Football Journey
Early Career at Sporting Cristal
Christian Ramos started his football journey at Sporting Cristal when he was 13. He first played for their reserve team in 2007. In 2008, he became a key player for the main team. He played 47 games and helped Sporting Cristal qualify for the 2009 Copa Libertadores. He left the club in 2009.
Success with Universidad de San Martín
Ramos joined Club Deportivo Universidad de San Martín de Porres (USMP) next. Here, he achieved great success. USMP won the 2010 league title and qualified for the 2011 Copa Libertadores. His strong performances caught the eye of the Peru national football team manager, Sergio Markarián. This led to Ramos being called up to the national team for the first time.
Playing for Alianza Lima
In 2011, Ramos signed with Alianza Lima, his favorite team growing up. He played a big part in helping Alianza Lima almost win the league title. He scored three goals in 17 games. However, they lost to Juan Aurich in the final. Ramos nearly moved to clubs in Argentina and Portugal, but it didn't work out.
Time at Juan Aurich
After Alianza Lima, Ramos moved to Juan Aurich, the team that beat them in the 2011 final. In 2014, he found himself in another league final. Juan Aurich played against his first club, Sporting Cristal. Sadly, Juan Aurich lost 3–2 in the third and final match. He scored one goal in the first final. He also played in the 2015 Copa Libertadores. He played well, especially against the famous Argentine team River Plate. He made a great pass that led to a goal in a 1–1 draw.
Playing Abroad
Christian Ramos then played for his first foreign club, Club de Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata in Argentina, in 2016. He stayed there for one season. After that, he moved to the Ecuadorian team Emelec on loan. He became a regular starter and helped Emelec reach the round of sixteen in the 2017 Copa Libertadores.
He later joined C.D. Veracruz in Mexico in 2018. He played alongside other Peruvian players there. Due to financial problems at the club, he left soon after. In July 2018, Ramos moved to Saudi Arabia to play for Al-Nassr. He played ten games for them.
Return to Peru
Ramos returned to Peru, first on loan to FBC Melgar. In 2019, he joined Universitario de Deportes. His debut was tough, as he received a red card early in the game. After one season, he left the club. Later in 2019, Ramos signed with Club Deportivo Universidad César Vallejo. He was important in helping them qualify for the 2021 Copa Libertadores.
