Christian de Quincey is an American philosopher and author. Christian de Quincey is a professor of Philosophy and Consciousness Studies at John F. Kennedy University. He is also a Dean at the University of Philosophical Research. He teaches at the Holmes Institute and at Schumacher College in England.

He started The Wisdom Academy. This academy helps people learn about consciousness through personal mentoring. It combines "four Gifts of Knowing":

  • The Scientist's Gift: Learning through our senses and experiments.
  • The Philosopher's Gift: Learning through thinking and language.
  • The Shaman's Gift: Learning through feelings and different states of mind.
  • The Mystic's Gift: Learning through deep intuition in quiet moments.

His writings on consciousness have appeared in many academic journals and popular magazines.

His Books

De Quincey has written several books. These include Radical Nature: The Soul of Matter (2010) and Radical Knowing: Understanding Consciousness through Relationship (2005). He also wrote Deep Spirit: Cracking the Noetic Code (2008), which is a novel about science and spirituality. Another book is Consciousness from Zombies to Angels (2009).

His "Radical Consciousness" book series looks at the nature of reality and what consciousness truly is. He also explores how science needs to change to better understand consciousness. With Willis Harman, he co-authored The Scientific Exploration of Consciousness (1996).

Early Career and Education

Before his academic career, Christian de Quincey worked in marketing and public relations. He was also a journalist for various newspapers and magazines. He was the managing editor for Shift magazine, which came from the Institute of Noetic Sciences.

He taught online courses in consciousness studies at the University of Arizona. He was also part of an advisory committee for the University of Arizona's Center for Consciousness Studies.

De Quincey earned his doctorate degree in Philosophy and Religion from the California Institute of Integral Studies. He also has a master's degree in Consciousness Studies from John F. Kennedy University.
