Growing Up and Learning

Christiane Lemieux was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on April 11, 1969. She went to Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario for her first degree. After that, she studied at Parsons School of Design in New York. While there, she won the Golden Thimble Award in her final year. This award is a special honor for design students.

Her Design Journey

Christiane Lemieux started her career in the fashion world. She worked with famous designer Isaac Mizrahi, helping with fabrics. Later, she joined The Gap as an assistant designer. There, she helped create women's clothing and worked on fabric designs.

Starting Her Own Companies

Christiane then became a design director at Portico, a home company in New York. She designed many things for them, including furniture, home decorations, gifts, and bedding.

In 1999, Christiane decided to start her own company, Dwell Home Furnishings. She began by offering a collection of bedding and other fabrics. Over time, her company grew a lot. It started making custom furniture, items for dining tables, and even products for babies and children.

In 2008, Christiane launched a special collection called DwellStudio for Target. This made her designs available to even more people.

Sharing Her Knowledge

In March 2011, Christiane Lemieux wrote a book called Undecorate, The No-Rules Approach to Interior Design. This book shares her ideas on how to decorate homes in a fun and unique way.

Expanding Her Reach

Christiane's work also appeared on TV and in magazines. In 2012, she was interviewed for a show called Apartment Therapy. In 2013, her own apartment was shown in The Sunday Telegraph newspaper.

In 2014, Christiane became the executive creative director at Wayfair. This meant she helped guide the creative direction for the large online home goods company. In 2015, she appeared as a judge on the TV show Ellen's Design Challenge.
