Early Life and Training

Christine was born in Paris, France, on February 15, 1945. Her parents, Dietz Edzard and Suzanne Eisendieck, were both painters. After studying economics, Christine learned how to design sets and costumes for plays and movies. She worked with famous designers like Lila De Nobili. She even helped with big opera productions at La Scala in Italy, like Aida and Romeo and Juliet.

Filmmaking Career

One of Christine's first big jobs was co-writing and designing costumes for the film The Tales of Beatrix Potter in 1971. For this movie, she was nominated for two BAFTA awards!

In 1975, Christine and her husband, Richard B. Goodwin, started their own film studio called Sands Films. It's located in Rotherhithe, London. Sands Films is a special place. It has a library where people can research old pictures for free. The building itself is famous and got a special "Blue Plaque" in 2009. Over the years, Sands Films has also made and provided old-fashioned costumes for many movies and TV shows around the world.

Christine is very well known for her film Little Dorrit (1988). This movie was based on a book by Charles Dickens. For Little Dorrit, Christine was nominated for an Oscar, a BAFTA Award, and a Los Angeles Film Critics Award.
