Christopher Evan Welch (born September 28, 1965 – died December 2, 2013) was an American actor. He was known for his work in TV shows, movies, and plays. Many people remember him as the narrator in the movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona by Woody Allen. He was also well-known for playing Peter Gregory in the HBO series Silicon Valley. Christopher Evan Welch passed away in 2013 in Santa Monica, California, due to health problems from lung cancer.
Early Life and Education
Christopher Evan Welch was born in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He went to the University of Dallas on a special scholarship. There, he studied drama and graduated from the program. He continued his studies in drama at the University of Washington School of Drama in Seattle.
Acting Career
Welch started his acting career in the late 1990s. In 1999, he appeared in the TV show Third Watch. He later acted in popular shows like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Practice, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
He also had a very busy career acting in plays. He performed in many well-known Off-Broadway shows. These are plays performed in smaller theaters in New York City. He also appeared in three Broadway shows, which are the biggest and most famous theater productions.
In the 2000s, Welch acted in many movies. Some of his film roles included The Stepford Wives and War of the Worlds. He also appeared in The Sopranos on TV. Later, he had roles in films like The Master and Lincoln, where he played Edward McPherson. He also appeared in TV shows such as Rubicon and Elementary.
One of his most famous roles was Peter Gregory in the HBO series Silicon Valley. He was still filming this show when he passed away. He had completed five episodes. When Silicon Valley won an award for Best Comedy Series, the show's creator, Mike Judge, dedicated the award to Christopher Evan Welch.
Besides acting, Welch also narrated many audiobooks. He was the voice for The Last Apprentice series, which is a popular fantasy series for young adults. He also sang in a rock band called the Ottoman Bigwigs.
