Meet the Pillar False Gumweed
What Does It Look Like?
This plant is a shrub that can grow quite tall. It often reaches about 120 centimeters (or 48 inches) high. That's almost as tall as a grown-up! As the plant gets older, its bark changes. It often turns gray and can become a bit flaky.
Its flowers are bright yellow. They usually grow close together in groups. This makes a beautiful display when the plant is in bloom.
Where Does It Grow?
The pillar false gumweed loves sandy soil. You can often spot it in places like canyonlands or open woodlands. It's a native plant to the desert and dry areas of Arizona and Utah.
