Chuck Hoskin Sr. is an important leader. He is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. He has also served as a politician in Oklahoma. He was a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Early Life and Education
Chuck Hoskin Sr. was born on January 29, 1952. His birthplace was Claremore, Oklahoma. After finishing high school in 1970, he joined the U.S. Navy. He served on a ship called the USS Independence.
After his time in the Navy, he went to college. He earned a degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College. Then, he got two more degrees from Northeastern State University. Before becoming a politician, he worked in schools. He was an administrator for Locust Grove Public Schools.
Personal Life
Chuck Hoskin Sr. is married to Stephanie. They have three children together. Their names are Amy, Charles Jr., and Amelia.
His Political Journey
Chuck Hoskin Sr. started his political career in 2006. He was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives. He represented the 6th district. This area includes parts of Craig, Mayes, and Rogers counties. He worked on important groups called committees. These committees included Appropriations & Budget and Public Safety. He also worked on Veterans & Military Affairs.
After leaving the House, he became the Mayor of Vinita, Oklahoma. He was elected mayor in 2019. He served the city for a few years.
Serving the Cherokee Nation
Chuck Hoskin Sr. has a long history of serving the Cherokee Nation. He was a member of the Tribal Council for 12 years. This was from 1995 to 2007. The Tribal Council helps lead the Cherokee Nation.
Later, in 2011, he became the Chief of Staff. He worked for Principal Chief Bill John Baker. This role is like a top advisor. It helps the Principal Chief manage daily tasks.
