Clarence "Chucky" Brown Jr. (born February 29, 1968) is an American basketball coach and former professional player. He was a tall forward at 6 feet 7 inches.
Chucky Brown was picked by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1989 NBA draft. He played for many different teams during his career. In fact, he played for 12 different NBA teams. This was an NBA record for a while! He shared this record with a few other players. Later, another player named Ish Smith broke the record. Chucky Brown finished his career with 4,125 points.
Besides the NBA, Brown also played in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and in Italy. He played for the Grand Rapids Hoops and the Yakima Sun Kings in the CBA. In 1995, he was named to the All-CBA First Team. That same year, he made history. He became only the second player to win both an NBA championship and a CBA championship in the same season!
After his playing career, Chucky Brown became a coach. He coached the Raleigh Knights in 2004. Then, he was an assistant coach for the Roanoke Dazzle for two seasons. He also coached the Los Angeles D-Fenders as an assistant and then as head coach. More recently, he coached at West Johnston High School. Since 2022, he has been the head coach for the men's basketball team at St. Augustine's University.

Starting with the Cleveland Cavaliers (1989–1991)
Chucky Brown was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1989. He had played college basketball at North Carolina State University. With the Cavaliers, he started 86 of the 149 games he played. He averaged about 7 points and 3 rebounds per game. The Cavaliers let him go in December 1991.
Playing for the Los Angeles Lakers (1991–1992)
Just three days after leaving the Cavaliers, Brown joined the Los Angeles Lakers. He played 36 games for the Lakers. He averaged around 4 points and 2 rebounds per game. After his time with the Lakers, he played a few games in Italy. Then, he signed with the New Jersey Nets.
Time with the New Jersey Nets (1992–1993)
Chucky Brown signed with the New Jersey Nets in October 1992. While playing for the Nets, he averaged about 5 points and 3 rebounds per game.
A Short Stop with the Dallas Mavericks (1993)
In November 1993, Brown signed with the Dallas Mavericks. His time there was very short. He played only one game before being waived. In that game, he scored 3 points and grabbed 1 rebound.
His Career in the CBA (1993–1995)
Chucky Brown spent three years playing in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He played for the Grand Rapids Hoops and then the Yakima Sun Kings. In 1994, he briefly signed with the Miami Heat but was waived before the season started. With the Sun Kings, he played very well. He averaged over 21 points and 5 rebounds per game in 1995. He was even named a CBA All-Star! After his great performance, he was called up to the Houston Rockets. He won a CBA title and an NBA title in the same year.
Winning a Championship with the Houston Rockets (1995–1996)
In February 1995, Chucky Brown joined the Houston Rockets. He signed a few short contracts before staying for the rest of the season. He had some of his best seasons with the Rockets. He helped them win the NBA championship in the 1994–95 season! With the Rockets, he averaged about 8 points and 5 rebounds per game. In the 1995–96 season, he started all 82 games for the team.
Moving to the Phoenix Suns (1996)
In August 1996, Brown was traded to the Phoenix Suns. This trade involved several players, including Charles Barkley. Brown played 10 games for the Suns. He averaged about 3 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.
Playing for the Milwaukee Bucks (1996–1997)
In December 1996, Brown was traded again, this time to the Milwaukee Bucks. He played 60 games for Milwaukee. He averaged around 3 points and 2 rebounds per game.
Time with the Atlanta Hawks (1997–1998)
Chucky Brown signed with the Atlanta Hawks in October 1997. He played 77 games for the team. He averaged 5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.
First Stint with the Charlotte Hornets (1999)
In January 1999, Brown joined the Charlotte Hornets. During this time, he had some of his best scoring numbers since his championship season. He averaged 8.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.
Joining the San Antonio Spurs (1999–2000)
Brown signed with the San Antonio Spurs in October 1999. He started 27 of his 30 games with the team. He averaged 6.3 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. The Spurs waived him in February 2000.
Returning to the Charlotte Hornets (2000–2001)
Just a few days after leaving the Spurs, Brown returned to the Charlotte Hornets. He played 33 more games for Charlotte. He averaged 4.4 points and 2.7 rebounds per game in his second time with the team.
Briefly with the Golden State Warriors (2001)
In January 2001, Brown signed with the Golden State Warriors for a short time. He played 6 games with them, averaging 4 points and 3 rebounds per game. He was waived later that month.
Back to the Cleveland Cavaliers (2001)
Brown returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers in January 2001. He signed a few short contracts before staying for the rest of the season. He played 20 games, averaging 3.9 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.
Final Season with the Sacramento Kings (2002)
Chucky Brown's last NBA season was with the Sacramento Kings in 2002. He signed with them in February and stayed for the rest of the season. In his 18 games with the Kings, he averaged 1.2 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.
