History of St. Hubertus Church
Early Beginnings
The town of Chanhassen was actually first called St. Hubertus. The church congregation started in 1877. A priest named Father Aloysius Wewer established it.
Building the Church
The church building you see from 1887 was not the first one. It was actually the third building used by the congregation. A skilled builder named John Geiser (1812–1902) constructed it. John Geiser was very talented. He also carved the church's altar. During his lifetime, he built about 30 other churches.
Later Church Buildings
The St. Hubertus congregation continued to grow. They built their fourth church building in 1976. Later, in 1997, they constructed their current church building.
