The Church of St Nicholas in Castro, Carisbrooke is a special parish church found inside Carisbrooke Castle on the Isle of Wight. It's part of the Church of England.

A Church Inside a Castle

This church is actually the chapel of Carisbrooke Castle. That's why it's called 'in Castro,' which means 'in the castle' in Latin. You can find it right next to the castle's main entrance.

In 1904, the chapel was opened again after being rebuilt. It was made into a special memorial for King Charles I. He was a king who was held prisoner at Carisbrooke Castle a long time ago.

Inside the chapel, you'll also see the Isle of Wight County War Memorial. This important memorial remembers people from the island who served in wars. A local architect named Percy Stone designed it.

About the Organ

The church has a musical instrument called an organ. This organ was built in 1908 by a company called Bevington. It has two keyboards, which are called manuals. You can find more details about this organ on the National Pipe Organ Register website.
