A Look Back: The Church's History

Early Days and Planning

Before the church building existed, the local Catholic community met in a coach house. This was back in 1883. A priest would travel from the Catholic church in Doune. He came every Sunday to lead mass.

Plans for a new church began in the early 1930s. The building was finished and officially opened on December 27, 1934.

Who Designed It?

A Scottish architect named Reginald Fairlie designed the church. He was very talented! The church has a Romanesque style. This means it looks a bit like old Roman buildings. It has strong, simple shapes. The roof is in an Arts and Craft style. This style focuses on handmade items and traditional skills.

The Special Memorial Window

Remembering a Sad Day

The Church of the Holy Family has a very special set of three stained glass windows. These are known as the Dunblane Memorial Window. They were put in place to remember those affected by a tragic event. This event happened at Dunblane Primary School on March 13, 1996.

What the Window Means

The beautiful stained glass windows help the community remember. They honor the lives lost and those who were hurt. It is a place for quiet reflection and remembrance.
