Churchland is a small community in Davidson County, North Carolina. It is located southwest of Lexington, North Carolina, along North Carolina Highway 150. The community is home to Churchland Baptist Church and Churchland Elementary School. The Churchland Volunteer Fire Department helps keep the area safe.

History of Churchland
Churchland has a rich history. One important historical building is the Philip Sowers House. This house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. This means it is a special place recognized for its history.
The community is also home to Boone's Cave Park. This park covers 110 acres and is named after the famous American pioneer, Daniel Boone. It's a great place to explore nature.
Churchland Baptist Church
The Churchland Baptist Church has been around for a long time. It was started on May 17, 1837. Back then, it was called the "Baptist Church of Christ at Piney Meeting House." Over the years, its name has changed a few times.
Many pastors have led the church throughout its history. For its 150th anniversary, a book called Reflections was published. It shared the church's long and interesting story.
Churchland Elementary School
Churchland Elementary School is an important part of the community. The building where the elementary school is now used to be Churchland High School. This was until 1957. That year, a new school called West Davidson High School opened.
After that, the old high school building became the elementary school. It changed its name and the grades it served. People say the very first school on this site was started in the early 1900s by a person named Mr. Hasty. You can find more details about its history in an old local magazine called Homespun. Both schools are part of the Davidson County School System.
Local Business
For a long time, the main business in Churchland was Orrell's Food Service. This company was one of the biggest food distributors in Central North Carolina. They delivered food all over the state and even to Southern Virginia. Their office and warehouse were located on Highway 150.
Orrell's Cold Storage started in 1954. It was founded by two brothers, Herman and Roy Orrell. They began by cutting and processing beef and pork. Herman later bought Roy's share of the business. In 1962, Herman's son, Tony, joined the company. Tony was the president and CEO until May 2023. At that time, a company called Ben E. Keith Company bought Orrell's Food Service. The Churchland location is now called Ben E. Keith Foods – Carolina Division.
