History of Churriana de la Vega

Early Mentions of the Town

The first time Churriana de la Vega was written about was in the 1300s. A very smart Moorish writer named Ibn al-Jatib mentioned it in his works. He was a polymath, meaning he knew a lot about many different subjects.

Granada's Surrender Negotiations

Churriana de la Vega also played a small but important role in history. It was one of the places where talks happened for the final surrender of Granada. This was when the last Muslim ruler of Granada, Boabdil, negotiated with Isabella I of Castile, the Queen of Castile. These talks led to Granada becoming part of Spain.
