Chykie Jerrod Brown is a former American football player. He played as a cornerback, which is a defensive position in football. The Baltimore Ravens picked him in the 2011 NFL Draft. Before that, he played college football at the University of Texas at Austin.

Early Life and High School Football

Chykie Brown was born on December 26, 1986. He grew up in Houston, Texas. He went to North Shore High School.

During high school, Chykie was a fantastic athlete. He played many different positions on the football team. These included safety, cornerback, running back, and wide receiver. He was chosen for the all-state team in his senior year. He also made the all-district team twice. By the time he finished high school, he had made 120 tackles. He also had 10 interceptions and forced 4 fumbles. Chykie was also a good student and was on the honor roll.

College Football Career

After high school, Chykie Brown went to the University of Texas at Austin. He played college football for the Texas Longhorns from 2007 to 2010. In his first year, he "red-shirted," which means he practiced with the team but did not play in games.

Over his four years playing, he appeared in 47 games. He started 29 of those games. He made 106 tackles and had two interceptions. He also had four quarterback sacks.

Chykie helped his team win several important games. In 2007, they won the Holiday Bowl. The next year, they won a share of the Big 12 South Championship. They then won the Fiesta Bowl. In his junior year, the team won the Big 12 Championship. They even played in the 2010 BCS National Championship Game.

Professional Football Career

Chykie Brown was chosen by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2011 NFL Draft. He was the 164th player picked overall.

Playing for the Baltimore Ravens

In his first year with the Ravens (2011), Chykie played a little. He finished the season with seven tackles. In 2012, he got more playing time. This was because another player, Lardarius Webb, got injured. Chykie ended that season with 25 tackles.

A big moment for Chykie came in the playoffs that year. In a game against the Denver Broncos, he broke up a pass. This led to his teammate, Corey Graham, returning the ball for a touchdown. The Ravens won that game. Three weeks later, they defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII. This meant Chykie Brown earned a Super Bowl ring!

In the 2013 season, Chykie mostly played on special teams. He had ten tackles that year. He left the Ravens team in November 2014.

Time with Other Teams

After leaving the Ravens, Chykie Brown joined the New York Giants. He was signed by them in November 2014. He stayed with the Giants until September 2015.

In February 2016, Chykie signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. He was released by them in September but then re-signed the very next day. Later that year, in November 2016, he was placed on injured reserve. This happened after he got a knee injury during a game.
