Super Bowl XLVII (also known as Super Bowl 47) was a big championship game in the National Football League (NFL). It happened at the end of the 2012 NFL season. In this exciting game, the Baltimore Ravens played against the San Francisco 49ers. The Ravens won the game with a score of 34 to 31.
The game took place on February 3, 2013. It was held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. This victory was special for the Ravens because it was their second Super Bowl title. What Made This Super Bowl Special?
The Harbaugh Bowl
This Super Bowl was nicknamed the "Harbaugh Bowl," "HarBowl," or "Brother Bowl." This was because it was the first time in Super Bowl history that two brothers were head coaches for the opposing teams. John Harbaugh was the head coach for the Baltimore Ravens, and his brother, Jim Harbaugh, was the head coach for the San Francisco 49ers. It was a unique family matchup on the biggest stage in football!
Ray Lewis's Last Game
The game was also important because it was the very last NFL game for Ray Lewis. He was a famous linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens. Ray Lewis had announced that he would retire from professional football after the 2012 season. Winning the Super Bowl was a great way for him to end his amazing career.
The Power Outage
During the game, there was a power outage in the stadium. The lights went out for about 34 minutes in the third quarter. This caused a long delay in the game. Even with the lights out, emergency lights helped light up parts of the stadium. After the power came back on, the game continued, and it was still a very close finish!
